'63 AM Wonderbar Radio Volume Stalk Thread Length

Issue: Volume adjustment bezel does not fit flush against dash.
I have discovered that the replacement radio that I just installed (what a pain) has longer threads on the volume stalk where the nut secures the radio to the dash than the Tuner side. The original radio is in a local shop getting fixed so I asked him to send me photos of the original volume and tuner threads - they are the same length. I am guessing that the difference in length was overlooked when the replacement radio was rebuilt (don't recall where/when I purchased). Any ideas on how to "fix" without pulling the radio again? No hacksaw suggestions please.

The tab on the volume bezel on my radio swings thru the lower 180 degrees of travel and can never be positioned at 12 o'clock like your photo shows. Are you sure you have it completely engaged correctly on the brass shaft? Be very careful pushing it on because it doesn't take much pressure to damage the internals of the volume control. Mine is an AM/FM so maybe they are different.

The tone adjustment bezel on the AM radio has three distinct position "clicks" as you turn it - mine starts at 7 o'clock, 1 o'clock, and 6 o'clock. The issue appears to be that the threaded portion is sticking out past the nut that secures the radio to the dash, not allowing the bezel to fit flush.
