Road Trip to the National / Northern Wisconsin to Virgina

Now that we are within a few weeks of the National, I am starting to plan my route. I am of the understanding I80 is a washboard. Are there any suggestions as to what to avoid in the name of my truck, trailer, and car?

Tim, I'm driving in from New Hampshire, so this may or may not help, it will add time.

I refuse to take I95 through Baltimore and Washington DC. I'll be heading through MD, DE and VA and crossing the bay at the Chesapeake Bay/Bridge tunnel.

Just a thought.....

i am running from Chicago with trailer also. did not want to be on 80 for this trip.
i am going to go to Indy on 65 to 70 to Dayton OH, to 75 to Dayton, to US 35 to Xenia, to 64 in Teays Valley to Lewisburg VA and stay over night
next day stay on 64 all the rest of the way to Hampton.

Tim - I just finished cross country on mostly on I80 driving a small van. I80 through South Chicago is very rough in spots. They are working to improve it and sections of it are not bad. However, there are tons and tons of trucks that pound the highway everyday. Also, because of COVID, the payment of tolls is changing. Toll booths are being eliminated and replaced with overhead drive through scanners making an EZ-PASS a necessity.
