    Charleston Nat'l & C5 Tires

I'm curious about the chapter hosting the Charleston Nat'l...believe its 2026. Also, C5 tires: Somewhere I read run-flats are no longer available. What are others using to remain within the minimum standard deduction for service tire replacement? I've a
got 2000, 45k, still original convertible and given CHL is two hours from me...makes it a perfect opportunity to campaign it.
    Thx!

Tom- the National club will be hosting the 2026 Convention, as it has since 2021.. C5 NTL Allen Tremain would have the best info on current day tires for your 2000, or other members with experience with those cars at Regionals and Nationals will probably pipe in here soon.

Michelin Pilots are available as runflats. For driver tires they're great.

Goodyear offers 2 options, both non-runflat.
Given that it's the original brand it's likely to result in the smaller deduction, but...

Just be happy its not a C4 and you need tires.

        Standard deduction covers this issue.
Run flat issue was addressed in the last revision of the Standard deduction guide.
        Generally it's a 75% deduction or 24 points.

This is what I get from the Good Year webpage when entering in the 2000 Corvette specs...and why I'm asking for specifics.

No results were found for 2000 Chevrolet Corvette with EMT Tire

That's because they don't make one any longer.

Of course I assume, given twenty-first century technology...a service replacement would have been produced. i guess dumb me!

Tom, for run flats, you'll have to go with Michelin's
Several C6 owners have done that and they pass for the PV. On flight judging it's a 24 point deduction against the 4500 points. Many people have commented on the good ride and performance of the Michelin's as well.
                A very good tradeoff.

I'm running Michelin Pilot Sports currently. Its a convertible and they reduced cabin noise rather substantially.

So Don...what's the host convention facility? Thought I would book a room now to avoid 48 hour crash on the insufficient room block!

Tom, I learned some time ago that if you lived on the west coast and the hotel blocks were at ooo1 on a date firm, one should be prepared to wake up just prior to east coast time of 0001, if one would desire to bag a room at the host hotel. I struggled to acquire a room at the Embassy Suits for our 50th. If we meet at the Nats. I'll fill you in on how to wrangle a room when one lives 3 hours away from nirvana. It starts via the use of some subterfuge and the receipt of a call from the Philippines. Next year Nats. will be held in my back yard there is an NCRS God after all. Bye-Bye Philippines. About the Michelin run flats, they are great and passed my PV. Sierra Hotel.

I was conversing with another, high-ranking member (he probably doesn't think so) but I question whether time to take a look at the contractor-led national conventions. Is it performing as the organization expected. Leadership could easily pull together a team of members that know convention management and assess performance. In my mind, when a room block is "full" after 48 hours...the math isn't right! we should not have to scramble for a freakin room three days after accommodation's open. Having worked closely with CVBs for over a decade, meeting planners would not put up with this and contractor performance...in question!

As of last summer, I was informed that Goodyear was making the correct Eagle EMT tires for C5 Corvettes. Goodyear was making them in batches and they were available for a few months in 2023. When they are available, they sell out quickly. I am not sure if they are making them in batches again for 2024. I've attached a link from my website for C5 tires. I can only recommend that you check periodically for their availability.
