It looks correct, i.e, yellow, to me.

      Bruce and Murray,

I'd recommend you refer to the TDB Thread "1965 N11 Exhaust Question that was started by Dave Strickland on November 20, 2023. Much good info there. I had purchased the stamp and ink indicated in Murray's post above and found it to be unacceptable. Don't waste your money on it as it is (my opinion) incorrect and the cheap ink will burn off. You can read more of my experience in the noted post.

The correct stencil to use is the single line that says "OFF ROAD ASSEMBLY". There is a picture of it in a previous post.

I'd have to look at the '65 TIMJG. I won't have one in my hands until Sunday night.

That’s what I used on mine and no point deducts all the way up to and including Duntov judging. I believe the previously mentioned thread included a pic of the stencil that James West used. I believe he mentioned he would cut off the unnecessary portion of the full word ASSEMBLY.
After you apply the OFF ROSD ASSY stencil be sure to apply blackout over it. The chassis judges want to see that and it makes sense to me.

Terry, would be interested in your research on this if you would share. The last set I had were stenciled on two lines - from GM, not aftermarket, but not assembly line either.

                        Dorsey,

My previous post (which Mark provided a link to above) outlines my research. In addition, the previous post included some photos that Alan Drake posted. As you can see, there are examples of both one line and two line wording on the mufflers. That said, they always have "ASSY" versus the full "ASSEMBLY".

At the end of the day, I can only report on what I did and what worked for me. I was pleased with my final result and my car has been awarded a Regional Top Flight, Bloomington Gold Certificate, MCACN Triple Diamond and Duntov Certification...all with no deducts for the stencil I used.

Thanks Terry. Meant nothing argumentative in my post. Just read all available on some subjects when definitive information seems so slippery. Will read your post with interest. FWIW, the marking on my muffler was definitively stamped, not from a stencil. Most of the yellow paint outlined the lettering where the rubber characters pushed the paint aside.

                              Dorsey,

No problem, I did not take anything negative from your post.

Just to clarify, whenever I post something that involves a restoration issue, I try to be clear and detailed on what I may have done. And, it's always from the perspective of what worked for me. I respect the fact that there is always more than one way to skin a cat and that someone else can find success on the same item by doing something differently than I did. That is one of the great things about our hobby. Even better is when the method is shared on the TDB. So, I encourage you to research the subject before proceeding. Then, good luck on your implementation and final result. I'm sure you will be pleased.
