    61 Master Cylinder Copper Washers

I ordered the three copper washers for the Master cylinder on May 13th. I received the outlet nut washer and was told that the other two would be on back order till May 28th. I contacted Corvette Central on May 28th and they said to contact them on June 4th. I phoned them today and was on hold for 1/2 hour and was told after 1/2 hour to leave a message, which I did. Corvette Central called back this afternoon, my wife answered the phone, and Corvette Central hung up. Is there another source for these two copper washers? I have tried the local NAPA, two other auto parts stores, an ACE hardware store, etc. with no success.

Waiting on the phone for half an hour and getting this message every couple of minutes: "Your call is important to us. Please remain on the line and your call will be answered by the next available coordinator." Really! I could be waiting on the line until my casket is delivered!

      Mark,

By any chance are the washers you want GM #231343?

Do you have the old washers to measure OD, ID, & Thickness? Or can you estimate what you need from the parts you have? If so, McMaster Carr sells copper washers.

Also, if you have the old ones and they are not scuffed or nicked, you can anneal them, which would allow you to reuse them.

The forward copper gasket was GM #799303. It was 13/16" OD, 1/2" ID and 1/32" thick. The rearward copper washer was GM #399390. It was 13/16" OD, 19/32" ID, and 1/32" thick. In 1977, the 799303 was discontinued and replaced by the 799390. So, the 799390 can be used for both the front and rear positions and no one will know the difference when installed.

Attached are photos of the GM #799390 [none for sale]:

I should also have mentioned that the GM #799390 was discontinued without supercession some time ago.
