Re: 1965 Standard Column steering coupler
Hello All,
For what its worth, I have been working on restoring Steering Couplings for a while now and I have been through about a dozen of the 5688624 (63-66) Castings and I have (2) out of those that look good in every way, but no casting number. I tend to think some parts just did not get a casting number because of problems maintaining the cavities, or perhaps a repair made to one cavity in a multi cavity tool.
One question I have is should the 5688624 castings be raw or painted black?
Every one I have seen so far has been painted, So I paint them when I restore them. I use RPM as a rust inhibitor on C3 Couplings and other steel parts.
Thanks in advance
