    Re: NCRS Insider on YouTube

put "NCRS" in quotes and you'll get lots of relevant hits + ones close to you (google knows where you live)
I had so many I stopped scrolling down

put "NCRS" in quotes type the word "AND" (space before and space after) and enter "Your Town" (Pittsburgh in my case) and I got 10 hits, all of which were on my PTSC Chapter before the 11th hit which was an NCRS.org link
    thx,
    Mark

      Mark, yes that will work.

The problem is, if you have no idea what NCRS is why would you type it in. I think a novice would just type Corvette clubs near me. I did and NCRS is nowhere to found.

Also, I talked to two chop shops this week about C6 parts, they had no idea what NCRS was. Something else to be addressed.

          Harry,

I see your point and agree with what you said.
I guess I wasn't really thinking clearly about those who have no clue what NCRS is...
          thx,

The #1 result was Corvette Forum with threads about NCRS & Bloomington, followed at 5th and 6th with NCRS Chapter pages but not the main organization page until way down where it has a "sponsored" tag.

Is this a valid phone # for contacting the NCRS? (I didn't spot it on the web site as a contact #.)

Yes, that is a good number for NCRS. Call it, you get the Gary Chesnut recording to push 1,2, or 3.

The problem is that NCRS is not a club or even listed that way. There are numerous NCCC type clubs that will show up, never NCRS.

SEO is about setting up the site so it ranks well with "organic" search results (not ad related). This includes descriptive title tags, adding effective meta tags, links to/from other relevant sites, and much else. This takes time and skill, and perhaps the cost of an SEO expert to do it, but unlike ads it's not "pay to play." There are also tools that analyze a website to highlight SEO opportunities.

On the other hand, Google ads charge by the click. Getting them to display where and when you want is a whole different science.

For example, if I search "Corvette club", the first screen of organic results include NCOA (twice), Corvette Club of America (twice), NCCC (once); NCRS is missing.

There's also ads showing up, this time with Corvettes for sale.

In a related "NCRS on YouTube" subject, I came across this somewhat dated, but very well documented NCRS Chapter event held at Sydney, Australia. Very well done in explaining the NCRS judging process to new members or members bringing their Corvettes to a Chapter judging event for the first time.

                        Hi Bill,

I loved the last screen..."No Corvettes were harmed during the filming of this event"

A high gain/low effort approach for NCRS to improve its web presence could be create a webpage with links to existing high quality videos on YT and elsewhere..

                            Like your idea.

However, expect you need permission from copyright holder before you can post a link to their YouTube video.

In the past, NCRS has ordered other sites to remove a link to ncrs.org.

Generally, I think you can post links to "websites", but not to specific content on a website. e.g. Ok to post a link to "NBC News", but not to a specific article on NBC's website - without their permission.

I don't know David, many of the YouTube folks are "content creators" that get paid for hits and plays.

I find this a curious comment. While the forum is closed to non-members, the rest of the site should be promoted as much as possible. Under what circumstances does NCRS disallow site linking?

...expect you need permission from copyright holder before you can post a link to their YouTube video.

YouTube's purpose, and thus its content providers' purpose, is to have people watch the content. Whenever a link is posted, a mini-YouTube window plays the content and provides a link to view the video directly on YT's site. When videos are uploaded, the owner indicates the level of viewing permission the upload carries. If the content is searchable and link-able then it carries no distribution restrictions within the YouTube parameters (YT logo, linking back to YT, etc).

YouTube, NBC, NYT, The Atlantic, etc.: I believe there are no copyright restrictions to direct copy/paste quoting and linking back to the original source - this is akin to citing a work in another publication and leading the reader to the source. Issues may/will arise when content is lifted from a source in such a way as to confuse a viewer into thinking the content is original.
