68 Hood Support

Couple of questions on 68 hood supports:

Was there only one design? I remember a few years ago seeing one of the vendors offering 2 or 3 designs for 68. Now I can only find one.

Which vendor offers the the best one?

The car has what I believe is a OEM Big Block/LT1 hood on a small block car. I remember back in 2009 or so trying to find one that fit & function but no luck.

I'm going to attempt this exercise again getting sick of the prop rod.
Any advice is appreciated.

Two designs for 68. First design pictured above. Second design, introduced around March 21st, 1968, used a third hole on the hood lip. My April 1st car uses the second style. Both designs are available through most parts houses.

How about a picture of a late design hood support. No internet luck...yet.

How different is the late vs early design? Length or hole and mount design?

I'm also studying the hood.
Looks like a 68-71 hood uses a longer support as the mounting holes are farther away from the hinges verses a 72, which are closer and uses a shorter support.

Any truth to this?

Time to get out a tape measure and examine the AIM.

Its possible the hood is a 72 LT1 or BB. It was on the car when I bought it. Could be a mismatch here, trying to mate to the 68 inner fender??

Think I'm catching on. I'll inspect the mounting hole locations on the inner and the hood tomorrow.

If I'm interpreting this correctly the later 68s use the 69-71 support??
