Lug nuts for 1965 steel wheels

    Hello,

Do any of the members know of a good source for a full set of original lug nuts for a 1965 corvette with steel wheels? Also, are the correct lug nuts supposed to have a "waffle" pattern to the flat side of the nut that faces away from the wheel? Thank you for any and all replies.

    Joe,
My '67 has about half waffle lug nuts and the other half plain. I'm sure there was more than one supplier of lug nuts for these old Corvettes. And, yes, the flat side has the "waffle" pattern (see attached pic). I don't know of anybody that reproduces that particular pattern of lug nuts...they're not a judged item.

going to a old junk yard that has 60's era GM cars and trucks with wheels still on them would be a good source

Many (and probably most) used lug nuts are worn out. If the cone at the base of the nut is distorted or worn in any way, the nut is worn out and should not be re-used. VERY OFTEN lug nuts are allowed to remain in use way after they should be.

Dave Sokaloski (spelling) advertises a lot of good used parts in the Drive Line. You might try contacting him.

Thank you for the replies and suggestions. Parts suppliers such as Ecklers and Zip have new lug nuts available but I wonder if these are sourced in the USA or do they come from offshore suppliers. I always try to obtain US produced items and I will avoid parts made in places like China and others at all costs. Have a great weekend.
