    1963 Horns - unrestorable

If you take your horns apart and they look like this, they can not be restored.

Would have been nice to save this one.

What makes it unrestorable? The pitting?
    Did you check with Hornworks?

The enlarged holes, the warping and the rust.

Yes, per Gary at the Hornworks, it's garbage.

Thank you for the explanation. Always looking to learn.
        That's a bummer.
Hopefully you can find a replacement

looks like you just need a new diaphragm

Yes, just buy some cheap used horn from a GM passenger can and rob the diaphragm out of it.

Easy to DIY restore them. I think the repair kit is still available. You need a hydraulic press to mash the rivets.

The instruction for tuning them are in the 63 Shop Manual.

I never used a press to set the rivets. And have done a few sets. I am not sure how to make the impression on the rivet to make it look like factory. But what gives the 63 horn its unique note. Is it the diaphragm or the shape of the horn it self.

If you think you can restore it, send me $90.00 + shipping and I'll send it to you.

I have no doubt I could make them work. Do I want to invest the time and money I'm sorry but I don't. I miss Ron Goralski for this.
