I'm now leaning toward Monroe 5818 rear shocks. Has anyone used them or is there another option?

On my ‘54 I’m using #5818 on the rear and #5751 on the front, purchased at NAPA. They work good for me.

I don’t believe CC sells Monroe shocks.
I purchased my Monroe shocks at NAPA at a better price than any shock the catalogs advertised.
In my opinion, if you’re running a stock suspension, Monroe’s are all you need.

If you are interested in judging, the keys to making the rear shocks appear correct even though they don't have the correct Delco stamping:
                1. Buy Delco shocks. Any Delco will lose less points. You can use new Delcos with the spiral or buy NOS vintage Delcos for 40s-50s passenger cars. The upper tubular shaft shield on passenger car shocks is too long but can easily be cut to the correct length. I can find you the length but seem to recall its about 7 1/2".
                2. Add the stone shields. Attach with JB Weld. Not sure if they are still reproduced but I have a pair.
                3. Paint them semi-gloss black.

Brian, the following part numbers are 53-55, front-5520278, rear-5520279 right out of 53-55 parts catalog dated July 1955. If you desire originals suggest you contact Sokolowski in So.
                  CA. OR Newson in Texas.
