    Engine/tranny removal from bare chassis

Ready to lift engine out of chassis which should be pretty straight forward process. But since this is my first time I wanted to ask what is the best sequence to follow. I will be mounting the SB 64 engine on a stand so I'm thinking; Muncie M20-- Bell-- while on frame then lift supported motor. Any special precautions to watch for or mark while removing tranny and or BH (leave clutch in?). I have read many archive posts but most are about taking out while body in on so this should be a breeze. Just don't want to mess anything up.

Looking at your picture, I would remove everything as an assembly, then disconnect the transmission and remove the bellhousing while it's on the ground or a rolling stand.

If you remove the transmission the engine tips back, if you remove the engine the transmission tips forward.
Or, be sure to support the engine if you decide to remove the transmission first.

      Jim,
Removing both the engine and transmission as assembled is just fine. You can can place it on the floor to remove the transmission, bell housing and flywheel.

I would insert a dummy yoke on your output shaft to prevent any fluid from spilling.

Thanks guys, I thought about doing that since so simple, but wasn't sure about setting on ground. I could use a pallet with some wood bracket structure to support the bottom. anyone have a good pic or schematic that has worked good in the past.

Remove engine/tranny as an assembly. Then remove tranny, bell housing, clutch and flywheel. Place engine on an engine stand for future work. This will allow 360 deg rotation of the engine for disassembly and/or cleaning and repainting.
