Re: New NCRS Member & New TDB User Introductions

I've been a member for about 3 years, but just had a friend show me the forum today. I have two Corvettes, a 2023 Stingray coupe and a 1964 Coupe, red/red, 327/300, M-20. Not many options on this one. No PS, PB, or air. This picture was taken a week ago at the chapter meet in Hubbard, OH. It was a good weekend as I drove it a hair over 100 miles to the meet and earned a chapter Top Flight. Looks like I have some reading to catch up on here at the forum.

Welcome and thanks for showing us your '64. I love '64s, I have taken 4 through judging all the way through the Nationals. They are my favorite C2, and by far the best value and best quality for money in the C2 universe. Red/Red is quite a nice color combo, enjoy and hope to see you around this TDB and especially the NCRS meets with that car, or as a Sportsman with your C8.

Thanks, it's a fun little car. It still likes to go for a ride!

Hi Ed, Sorry I missed seeing this. You are correct. The engine is the base 230hp. It is not a heater delete, and I am happy to have it during the cooler days of early Spring and Fall in MN. We do what we can, but honestly, we haven't had to do much to the car. She's a survivor, and because my dad was an old parts guy back in the late 60's, he stockpiled a lot of NOS parts in case they would ever be needed. I love the early vettes as well. Most of the judging my husband and I do are on the C-1's. Sounds like you had a real gem as well.

My humble research indicated there were 436 all one color of Jewel Blue, 1,226 were Power Glide, Hard Top only were 2,285, and Blue Interior were 4,459. Here is the kicker your car is a late year, and Fletcher Jones Chevrolet did not sell a lot of Corvettes in Ca. Nugent Chevy sold most of the Corvettes in So. Ca. IMHO your car was well below the 100 mark. I assume the power was a base engine, if not w/o F/I badging on the fender and powerglide it may be 245 HP engine. Looking at the sales sheet it was difficult to tell if it is a Heater Delete option that would make the vette a very rare Corvette. I hope to see the car in Va. for the Duntov Award. Onward and upward. Am I correct did you do most of the work on the car, I seem to recall the Restorer story. I love to Judge C-1, I have a special fondness for the very early vette's. I have walked in your shoes, mine was a 57 270HP radio/heater delete, with an AQ 4.56 rear end Posi. It was a drag race car from 57 to 70, I found it as a basket case in 1999, 2 1/2 years later I put it through NCRS, which started my C-1 judging career. Life is good.

Hi All: I was a member in the late 90's, let it lapse and rejoined a few months ago. I had bought a basket case 67 L-71 in 1998 and it ended up taking me over 10 years to finish it. I had it for 22 years. I was Corvette-less for over 3 years and this summer purchased a 67 L-79 convertible from a friend. It came with a folder full of documents, he was the 3rd or 4th owner. I have the Protecto-Plate, tank sticker and I think the order form is in there too. The car is loaded with options, 1 of 336 convertibles with L-79 and C60 according to Noland Adams. It has led a charmed life and was treated well by past owners, I think the only thing that isn't original on the engine is the carb. It has a few minor things I need to straighten out, it has sat a lot over the years. Once I get everything dialed in I'd like to have it judged. I'm not a stranger to Corvettes, I had a beautiful 1 owner 73 once upon a time and worked in a Corvette repair shop in the mid-late 70's.

Hello, long time corvette owner, first time member. My name is Mike, nickname Mrycar. Purchased first corvette, in 1987, a 1974, with ugly spoke wheels (that loved liberating themselves from the car), side pipes, rear window louvers, and mirrors that were only good at seeing the sky or the ground. The car had seen better days, but it was mine.

I owe a lot to that car, it may have been worn out, but it opened the door to a social life, where none existed before. It also spawn new opportunities, being an icon that people associated with me, and putting money in my pocket where little was before.

I made friends of Harold Bair (Yogi), where we bartered computer services, for parts and restoration lore. It gave me a job at Summit Racing, when my dad drove me to their shop with my homemade Tuned port ECM, and got hired on the spot. That in turn spawned visibility into General Motors landing me a job there that I still have today.

My worn vette improved as I did, from a smoke, belcher, to a good driver, and then into a drag strip winning car, then back into a modified driver.

Along it grew friends in the garage, a 1977 Corvette with 10k miles. An 1984, then a low mileage 1987 convertible, that I used as a daily driver, (yes even in Michigan winters), a 1968 Convertible, a couple 1991 ZR-1's, and my newest acquisition a 1961 fuelie.

Corvettes have done me well. I hope to be a member of the family here.

                Mike (mrycar)

Mrycar... are you the infamous IronMan from the 90's?
Either way, GREAT to have you join us! 🙂

Don’t remember the nickname Ironman, but lived in Bowling Green during the 90’s, worked at the plant, was on the NCM board of directors, and ran a corvette based online magazine during that stint.
