Could this fiberglass drip happen this way?

I've been tempted to just remove this fiberglass "slag" from a '67 I acquired about six months ago, but if the car came this way, I'd love to leave this flaw alone. The car is a factory documented sidepipe car and all body panels appear original as does most of the paint. This fiberglass "slag" looks like it dried next to the dogleg portion before it was removed, but I'm not sure why it was not cutoff by the factory when the dogleg was removed. Has anyone seen fiberglass "slag" like this before?

Dog leg on panel was removed before being glued to the body. Production new it was a side pipe body. Why risk damaging the body by cutting off after installation. Leave the glue alone.

      Tim
My Docd side pipe '67 has a similar drip on left side . This car was bought my me in 1983 and I have talked to the 2nd owner (lives in Illinois) .
He bought it in 1972 with docs. I have a pic of it somewhere and will try to find and send later.
I did a class on side pipes a few years ago and think I have another pic of that Red 6000 mile "67 with that same look. Again I will look for the pics later when time allows.
This could be another indication of a real sidepipe car.
Would be fun to document more sidepipe cars with the same look !

That's the answer I was looking for before I removed something that has an explanation for being there. Thank you.

Amazing, thank you for the pictures, Chris. I will save those as evidence.
