"Tom Russo: Just finished listening to Tony on the Corvette Today blogger with Steve Garrett. Got the link in the other forum post and wasn't sure where to post my take ....."

Agree with your post, but you "gotta go" where the folks are and social media is that place now-a-days. I expect this podcast is only one of many membership approaches our Board is considering. Money wise, pretty inexpensive vs potential gains.

Mike Johnson's comments also on point - increasing participation of those members we already have. Members enthusiasm is contagious, people are drawn to activity.

I understand from a marketing perspective but what's the objectives? I provided staff oversight for the marketing program of a major east coast chamber of commerce...I know how it works. How do we measure success? as you note, it must beyond membership to agitate participation...and it begins at the local chapter level. I understand the board was presented with a proposal that touch local, regional and national events. The typical negative toward the C3 generation shut down the discussion. Frankly, that where the discussion needs to start for growth!

Social media to me is a bore...I prefer data driven efforts. I joined the Pace Car facebook page...its all over the place, members buying, members selling, posting pictures, video of engine running after sitting for decades...where's the substance. Our marketing efforts should be data driven...substance driven with clear objectives. No seat of the pants decisions. It needs an overall strategy and how each effort ties in...maybe its there...maybe in the works.
