    C1 Power Top Pump Finish

I am trying to figure put what the correct finish is on the pump and motor for the power top on C1,s. I see a combination of different finishes. The canister part in cadium, the motor painted, both the motor and pump yellow cad. What is correct?
    Thanks

Sheldon, I don't recall if the '56 jg breaks down the finishes for the power top, but maybe this will help. This is the power top system from my TF, BG, Triple Crown Arctic Blue '56. Since this pic is from 2005, I don't recall how I determined the various finishes, but I doubt if I spent too much pondering it since it is all covered with the trunk liner piece. I hope this helps you move forward.

Thanks Gary, That is exactly what I thought it should be based on what I could tell of what was left of the finishes on my parts. I know you can't see but sometimes I go a little overboard. I like to do as much as possible to keep I t original.

When I restored a '56 system, I just cleaned and painted various items. Thread Here.

When I restored one of mine for my '59(upgrade), I copied original finishes as I saw remnants and had all items plated using various finishes, yellow or silver zinc. Here's a link to that one.... Here.

See Posts #5 and #35 for the motor finishes that I believe were there originally.

                Harry, Is that reservoir painted?

When I used lacquer thinner(iirc) to take the red paint off this one, there were telltales of the dichromate(yellow/gold) on the motor and the reservoir.

I soaked all of the parts in Captain Lee's "Metal Prep" to remove all traces of plating. There was still a little bit of dichromate in the nooks and crannies that I had to sand and wire brush off.
