Question On That Dreaded C2 Convertible Top Tag

Some questions on that Convertible Tag on the rear of Top that reads>"Warning Dealer Not To
Remove". Judging manual does not give too much info on this Tag

    1. Was the original tag made of some type of cloth or just thick paper as
    we see on the reproductions?

    2. Who makes the closest reproduction to the original?

    3. Any clever idea's on how to attach this tag to look like the original?

4.Even with the warning to the dealers would most of them been cut off
by the dealers when they "Dealer Prepped" the car?

Not asking these questions to "Fool Judges" just want to present the car
for judging to make it look like how Chevrolet delivered it to the Dealers.

Re: Question On That Dreaded C2 Convertible Top Tag

I purchased one or two from Al Knoch a few years ago for a very low price; 2.00 each as I recall. It was cloth. Maybe an exterior judge will comment, but having the label loose, not sew on, at judging will help with points.
Do you think there exists any top, original or replacement, that has a factory label that was attached originally at the factory?
With the right needle and thread many things can be done. I added the "jock strap" material to my top. I saw no need to try to add the label.
That black strap material was not on my top when I bought the car. The top was not made by Al Knoch, but they sent the material for free so I could add an original touch.

Is it possible to sew a replacement tag on an existing top? Mine got wet and faded greatly. If Al Knoch will sell just the tag and it is doable to replace the existing faded tag it would be great! When I bought a new 65 the tag was on the top and it remained nice for a couple of years of everyday use. The reproduction tags used today seem to have "hydrophobia" and cannot stand water.
