For this purpose, I am not necessarily concerned with judging, though I'd probably select an AC Delco group 34.

Mainly, I want to use my original hold down and top frame/shield without modification.

I guess when I get it out I can measure the height of the shield portion relative to the group 34 height (7-7/8" vs. 8-7/8" for group 24)

If a BCI Group 34 Battery is placed in a '63, does the hold down frame w/Shield (nonAC car) fit properly? I'm concerned whether the shield portion would interfere with the tray given the shorter height of the Group 34 vs 24.This is the part I'm referring to:
