As an FYI I ordered a battery for my 72 LT-1 almost a year ago from Battery Central Mall and I’m still waiting for it. The last time I talked to them in mid January it was supposed to ship by the end of the month, which it didn’t.

Took a bit of time (about 3 months) and they don't always answer the phone, but IMHO a nice product. Battery, tar top, dating and shipping $400. No deducts at National or Regional. Received my battery shortly before the standard battery deductions were changed, so not sure I would do it again as the battery deducts are not as big of a hit.

Still glad I did it though.....looks great.

Probably. When I ordered it in January 2023, they told me they make a wide array of batteries and were swamped.

I have a Delco R59 'lookalike' on order from Jim's Battery for my '67 coupe. The battery is supposed to come through with the specific factory and date codes I requested. When I spoke with Alice at Jim's about a week ago, there was a shortage of the "DELCO EYE" caps that go on one of the six battery cells.
Also, I have seen some online chatter that concerns the performance and durability of the R59 battery Jim's produces. My sense is you've had no such problems with the battery you purchased from Jim's? Please confirm. Thanks.

Hi Wayne,

Sorry for the late reply. I have had this battery for almost a year (received April 4, 2023) and have had no problems. Jim's recommend checking the battery voltage every 2 months, but I check it monthly and never had to recharge it. Both battery cables have been disconnected from the terminals while the car is in storage and the car is stored in my heated shop during the winter. I do not use a trickle charger, as I do not trust them. I have seen the same complaints about these batteries and although I haven't had mine for too long, so far so good. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. The issues mentioned in prior years' posts concerning Jim's Battery products would have shown up in your battery by now so, if there ever was anything but an isolated issue, the batteries being produced recently (yours) seem fine. BTW, are you negative on all trickle chargers or just certain brands?
