The 1965 HVAC non-Air Cond. cable and switch assembly was sold for service as GM 3864600, group 8.852. The Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) for 1965 Corvettes also indicates GM 3864600, but there was a prior (1963) version of this part (GM 3849471). When did the assembly manuals reflect this change? (See 2. below.)
Can't find my 1964 A.I.M., but something tells me it took awhile for the version GM 3864600 to replace the 1963 version. I know from other discussions that the change was to cause "shut off" if the coupe rear fan, when the front (heater fan) was turned on.
1. Am I right about that reason for the change? Apparently the new version worked ok for convertibles and 1963s...
2. Does the commonly used version of the 1964 AIM show this change, and a date?
BTW, A prior discussion started my Mike Garver includes a nice photo from Gary Beaupre. The discussion was about the light under the clock. Gary photographed the back side of an original 1966, showing the installed GM 3864600 cable with harness wires attached.
