Dennis Clark, Former National Judging Chairman and Lifetime Achievement Recipient

And one of my closest friends and mentor has passed away while resting peacefully. He has been with his daughter Gina in Redmond, OR since December and was recently moved to Hospice...Dennis is the one that developed the Judging Recognition Program as well as the Bowtie Award, among others...
Needles to say, it's been a tough week for me and a few others...

Please respect the family wishes at this time and wait for further updates as to any service or arrangements...

      Vinnie,
I admire the respect and close friendship you shared with Dennis, especially with what you and a few others did last year getting him to the NCM induction for John Amgwert. The NCRS was built on these types of relationships.

My condolences to you and Dennis' family. May he rest in peace.
      Eric

I am so sorry to hear this. Dennis and Rick Reid (former President) drove his '62 Fuelie from Washington on the 2000 Road Tour to Bowling Green, it was then "wired" on the show field (pictured below but not the wiring). Rest in peace, Don & Amy

The first time I met Dennis was at Copper Mountain. Dennis spent time talking to my Dad and me about his '57 and my '57 and Sondra spent time with my wife and Mom. Giving people who I greatly appreciate having met and known. I was impressed he drove his '57 from Bend and his knowledge. Later years he provided some insight as to having raced another '57 and he knew d----- well it was modified (right Mike). Respected by many and missed by many. 'See you later Dennis

Dennis was one of those that made the NCRS what it is today and set an example for all of us to follow now and forever! We are all going to miss Dennis and his leadership qualities! Rest in Peace my dear friend!

My sincere condolences! One memorable moment that I had was at a Regional Meet for the North Central Chapter at Canterbury Downs. Dennis was supposed to judge mechanicals with me for the 61/62 class. It was cold outside and Dennis told me to take care of it as he wanted to stay warm in the hotel. Well, the 62 I was judging had an engine that postdated the build date. The owner threatened me, so I finally got Dennis to come out of the hotel and straighten up the matter. Dennis came out, told the owner that he was the judging chair. and settled things down. After that, we went inside and had a bump and as beer.

Re: Dennis Clark, Former National Judging Chairman and Lifetime Achievement Recipient

I became 1070-72 Team Leader on Dennis' watch. His remarkable sense of humor and quick wit resolved so many tense moments on the judging field. Yes, as others have said: he moved the selection of judges from "if your car is being judged you have to judge" to the program and training we have today. We made the current score sheets under his watch. He was the kind of leader it was a pleasure to work for and with. Those of us who were around on his watch can't begin to count what we learned from him. He was a truly great mentor to those of us fortunate enough to be students to him. Thank you, Gina, for taking care of him all this time. My deepest sympathies to Gina and all the rest of his family. Now he can have a smoke with Sondra. God speed my friend, and eternal life to you.

I'm VERY sad to learn of his passing. Definitely one of the icons of NCRS and our hobby.

Dennis was certainly one of the great icons of our organization and the Corvette hobby. I was fortunate to stay at his home overlooking the
