    1964 wire clips

Could someone direct me to a resource showing a pictorial of the various wire harness clips, etc. with the part # as shown in the assembly manual for my 64?

    Take a look at https://www.zip-corvette.com/63-67-c...ape-clips.html
Most are shown there, if a question comes up on anything unique then ask back here

      Re: 1964 wire clips

I understand there are clips available - since I replaced the full front nose, I am looking for a cross-reference on the various clips to the assembly manual. So, that being said, what are the part numbers for those included in Zip M-2493 package to determine what goes where?

        Ron,

If I understand your question, I think what you’re asking for probably doesn’t exist. For my ‘66 I started a list of the part numbers and AIM pages for all the plastic straps, metal clips, rubber coated metal clips, etc., that I found when restoring my ‘66. Although I never finished the project, I wanted to include a detailed description of each type of strap or clip, and a photo. And I wanted to include a list of what was available to buy as used, NOS, or repro items, including an accuracy assessment of the repro item. It just got to be much too time consuming of a project. Which is why I say you’re unlikely to find what you’re asking for. My list of part numbers and some ‘66 AIM pages is this:

        GM 3844390 UPC 12, A10
GM 3827371 UPC 1 ASM, D4; plus other pages
        GM 3825551 UPC 12, A6; UPC 12 A11
GM 3830786 Does not appear in the ‘66 AIM
        GM 9422033 UPC 12, A9; UPC 1 ASM, D4; UPC 8, B4
        GM 3788712 UPC 12, A9; UPC 12, A11; UPC M20, A4
        GM 3901634
        GM 3706345
        GM 3799990 UPC 12, A10/11; UPC 12, C4; UPC 12, C7
        GM 3741284

The only way for something like this to be created is for someone to dedicate themself to doing it.

        Gary

Thank you Gary. I wonder what the judges use to determine the propriety of the fastener(s). Maybe that is "tribal knowledge" handed down behind closed doors. My 64 was a car with a lot of modifications when I purchased it. I am not interested in judging and all that - just want to try to get the right clips/straps in the right spot. Guess I'll have to do a lot of work in the AIM to come up with a list.

            Excellent work Gary,

As for myself, I really appreciate listings like these. I've also compiled numerous notes on this same subject. To add to the effort needed for this research is to find the correct rivets to affix these clips. The type that I found to be extremely difficult to find were the two "rosette" style rivets that attach the left and right hood side ledge wiring clips #3788712 shown on UPC 12, A9 and UPC 12, A11. Not sure when '66 cars used a "pop" style rivet there on the hood side ledge? But some have the "rosette" while others have the "pop." Interesting to me is that nowhere else on the car where clip #3788712 is used were the "rosette" style rivets used.

                Ron,

The best advice I can share with you is to further familiarize yourself with all of the clips found on original '64 front ends. Taking detailed photos of original/survivor cars is the best way to go. Then start collecting. The fastest way to find what you want would be to contact the two most popular parts dealers in the hobby. David Sokolowski in California and Rich Pasqualone in Pennsylvania. You will get the real deal from these two folks.

                Happy Hunting,
                Mike

                  Gary,

I HAD TO!!! But after paying through the nose for these two unique rivets I was very proud of how nice the job turned out. I actually did the clip installation work myself at the body shop while the car was still in primer after gelcoat. Just before her Nassau Blue paint the following week. This rivet was sprayed color at the factory. I must admit it was a very nervous job hoping that both rivets would compress properly. But both turned out great!

                    Ron,

I'm curious, do you still have access to your '64 original front nose piece that you replaced? Are you referring to the entire front end assembly forward of the firewall? Is your firewall original to the car? Does your car have original air conditioning?

                      Mike,

Where did you find the six peddle rivets?

                        James,

It's been close to 20 years ago that I found them from a guy who posted other parts in the Driveline. Honestly don't recall his name. I bought those 2 metal rivets and other clips and bolts in that small order. I know there are others that have found the same size rivet in black. I would've used those since they are painted over anyway. But I found the 2 unpainted ones first.
