67 corvette vent window

Hello all
.Would anyone have a plan to replace the LH vent window hinge. I have a new hinge and the vent window frame and glass out of the frame. It appears the hinge was welded by my observation on the inside of the frame. Can the hinge be drilled out from the outside where the weld marks appear on the inside. Then is it to be rewelded back on.

I have been looking for some direction on how to do this job for some time with the same results as you are getting. As to how to remove the broken hinge I could only suggest grinding very carefully . As to the reattachment / I think they were originally attached with some type of spot welding device or contact welding where a current was applied to both pieces in a jig that fused both pieces together . I have considered silver soldering the pieces together but I don't know if the joint will be strong enough . Lastly if you drill your pieces apart I think the new pieces could be rewelded with a tig machine and a competent operator / who would just do a plug weld thru the whole you made removing the broken piece . Colin. I believe there was a member that offered this repair service. I recall seeing it in the classified section.

Check with Charlie Seatbelt City he did some work on my 65 vent windows
