    C1 deck lid rod clip

Can anyone share a pic of the deck lid rod clip and how it attaches to the rod? The AIM doesn't really show it well for me.

Here is the clip that I am wanting to know how it gets attached to the rod for the deck lid button.

I can see that the bent end of the rod goes into the outer most hole in the assembly. Does the assembly get pushed into the the clip so that the hole in the clip straddles the hole in the assembly? Then the rod gets pushed through the holes and pushed down onto the remaining part of the clip?

If I try and do it this way, I can't get the hole in clip to perfectly match up with the hole in the assembly.

Is this how it is supposed to go together?

here's a pic from when I took mine apart. You can see the rod and clip orientation pretty clearly.
