    c1 Steering Wheel Rivet Question

I got a new steering wheel for the 58 and I am looking for tips on how to tighten the replacement "threaded rivet screws" that my hub came with. Obviously the tops of these "rivet screws" are flat so I cant put anything on top of them to keep them from spinning when trying to tighten the nut on the back down.

    Any tips/tricks to doing this?

    TY

I know you can get the original style rivets. That wasn't the question I was asking.

I am trying to figure out how one can tighten down the flat top rivet screw type fasteners to the steering wheel hub.

Thanks and good luck with your project

      Jason.

How about one of those rubber pads you use to hold onto a jar lid? I'd think you could apply enough pressure to get the nut tight enough - especially since there are several screws.

Jason, Put a tiny spot if Blue Loctite on the threads. Attach the washer and nut. Use a small round magnet tool to start the nuts.

When you tighten with a thin wall 1/4" drive 3/8" socket or nutdriver, it'll just get snug, then tighten securely as much as you can, and the Loctite will keep them tight enough.

I've done many without trouble. Details in this pdf located in the Sticky, Update page.

          See page 8.
