How to clean 69 sun visors?

My 69 comfort weave sun visors (originals) are in good shape. They have been off the car a long time and have some dust in the weave and some discoloration from oily hands (body oil not motor oil). I wonder how aggressive I can get with cleaning. A light spray with a Dawn solution and scrubbing with a tooth brush achieves some improvement. Hard rubbing with a cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol helps, but is tedious and I'd like better.

Does anyone know what lies beneath the vinyl weave? I wonder if something stronger than a spray with Dawn and light scrubbing might cause more harm than good.

    Thanks
    Mike

Brown jute padding is beneath the weaved vinyl fabric.

I've had good success using "Scrubbing Bubbles" foam bathroom cleaner. Spray it on, wait a few minutes, work it into the texture with a soft bristle brush, and wipe clean with a sponge.

Thanks for the replies. I was mostly concerned about causing the inner material to deteriorate, but it sounds like I can be a little more aggressive.

After consulting with an oriental carpet cleaner.
I used a wet dry vac and boiling hot water in a pump up sprayer with some oxy clean and a little fabric softener, which help act as a drying agent.

Spray and drag the vacuum at the same time...
