    61-62 Exhaust extensions

Question- does any supplier/manufacturer handle just the exhaust extensions for 61- 62 to replace incorrect piping exiting behind the the rear tires. Could a muffler shop recreate this extension with the curved bell mouthed end if not available from any reputable exhaust source. I dont think a photo is necessary. Thx

Are you talking about the section that goes from the muffler on back?

Could a muffler shop re-create the correct configuration at the end of the tail pipe?
      Well, yes, maybe, sorta kinda.
A GOOD, OLD TIMER, VERY EXPERIENCED muffler shop person could easily do it. But, MOST of the old time specialty muffler shops have faded away.
For the 56, when I installed the SB400, it seriously needed a better flowing exhaust system. So, I had a FULL 2 1/2in system fabricated by a guy at a muffler shop that I have used for over 35yrs (although, unfortunately, he is now retired). The 2 1/2in pipe will NOT pass through the rear of a 56-57 outlet and exhaust bezel, so I had my muffler guy build a correct (if such is possible) 2 1/2in system. I took him a picture of the correct shape and configuration of the end of a 61-62 tail pipe. For my satisfaction, it is dead on the money!
I also made more or less "correct" 2 1/2in clamps/hangers from commercially available 2 12in stainless clamps and had a shaped piece of stainless welded to the clamps. For the tail pipe clamp at the very back, I simply spread it apart, and used a longer stainless bolt that I bent to conform.

Wonderful Tom. I kinda thought/hoped someone could do it. This is a street driver that has ugly chrome extensions hanging down where the curved neck should be. My friend deserves this to be changed for his application but upsetting the current system must prove to be an exercise. We'll see. Thank you.
