After waiting several months to get the new heater box gaskets for my 61 Corvette, I have a question on the sequence of the rectangular gasket. Does the rectangular black steel plate with the bend in one corner go against the inner heater box and then the black rubber gasket next to the fiberglass? Or does the gasket go next to the inner heater box and then the rectangular black steel plate? Also does the heater cover in the engine compartment have dum dum to seal it to the firewall. I did take pictures of this originally; however, my flash drive quit working. I appreciate any help!

Re: 61 Heater Box Gasket
IMG_1985.jpgMark , Attached are photos of mine I took last year when I eplaced the core (among other things). It looks like the gasket goes against the firewall. The metal plate goes against the heater box,the the four flat flange head 1/4-20s ( on mine the short one was positioned on the lower left closest to the valve cover) then the four flat washer nuts(?), then the gasket. The assembly is then placed on the firewall. There was no dum dum on any part of the heater assembly when I removed it. IMG_1983.jpg I hope this helps.
