L88 sold at BJ for 85k

I was surprised to see what BJ called a ‘68 L88 go for only 85K yesterday at BJ. It didn’t comment on matching numbers but the description does say it was repainted but has its original interior and only 25k on the clock. Still seems a little cheap. Lot number 1451.1

If it was the white one, it was a nice looking car. But BJ did not advertise it as an original L88, and with a copper radiator and radio shielding it likely just a nice Corvette with an L88 engine and hood added.

What Roy says makes me understand the price but the C3 registry you posted says it's a numbers matching legit L88. Is there a mistake?

It was removed from the Mecum site probably because the buyer found out it wasn't a real L88. Here is a screen shot.

The C3 registry is just a site that tracks when cars are for sale and adds the car to the database. There is no validation process. Looking at the pictures on the C3 registry, there are a lot of issues with this car being a real L88. The car may have a matching restamped motor but that doesn't make it an L88.

OK all makes sense now. Still, even as a tribute car its pretty clean so the 85K seems like it was well bought.
