Hello,
I acquired an original 9 leaf rear spring for the 1965 corvette that I'm in the midst of working on. I measured this distance between the arched ends of the first leaf and the surface of this same leaf that faces downward and I came up with 10 7/8 inches. Is this spring a good candidate to restore and will it provide the proper ride height when fully assembled? There is a light amount of surface rust on the individual leaves but they should clean up nicely with just a wire wheel. The liners are worn. How far past the end of the individual leaf should the liner extend when in an non weighted and arched attitude? Would it be better to leave the liners long and wait until the spring is at ride height in the suspension to set the liner length? If so, how much of the liner should extend past the end of the individual leaf? Thank you in advance for any responses.
