    C1 Exhaust Bumper Mounting

I was trying to fit the 3 rear bumper pieces that go around the exhaust on my 56. On the lower long piece the bracket that the bolt goes through protrudes past the edge of the bumper. Is there suppose to be a small clearance between the bumper and body from the tip to where the exhaust pipe goes. None of the pieces fit very nicely but maybe that's the way they were before.
If anyone has a few pics showing the fit of the bumper to the body would be great

    Thanks
    Sheldon

    Re: C1 Exhaust Bumper Mounting

Sheldon, I'm at the same stage on my '57. These lower vertical bumpers attach with integral studs not bolts. If you are talking about the two stud plates they look about 1/16" proud of the bumper in a side view of the bumper. Thus if body contour and the bumper contour have not been altered there should be about 1/16th clearance to the fiberglass.
I posted a pic of my lower vertical bumper on December 27th. It shows one of these "stud plates". However my bumpers are replated originals and instead of the old broken stud I tapped the plate and I'm using a bolt. Frank Condron
