    Duke,
I seem to have a faint recollection that Ferrari tried to convince the FIA that the 250LM was an evolution of the GTO, but I could be wrong. By the way, Ferrari won overall, last year. Not that it isn't a whole different animal, what with the handicapping, and all. No interest at all, anymore.

"The Dave McDonald ZO6 was vintage raced heavily on the West Coast in the early 90's, I saw it regularly at Laguna Seca and Sears Point.

Did McDonald race it , more than that one time at Riverside in Dec 62?

Interesting question, I never chased the cars history early or late. Some of the things I found on the car seemed to indicate it probably returned to the Tech Center shortly after 1963-64. I know the previous owner before me had owned it since 1971. I pulled a lot of info, date codes, part numbers etc. off the car before I took it apart in my basement. Gave the original keys to MacDonald's son and mother in 2014.

"Dave MacDonald was killed at the 1964 Indy 500"

I saw that race on pay-per-view at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles. 7 years earlier I had been in a gasoline fire. I still carry a scar on my left leg. So that was pretty shocking to me.

Later I corresponded with Rich McDonald and he and his grandparents were also at the sports arena.

It must have been horrific for them.

Yes, that must have been about as bad as it could get. I did enjoy reading about the reunion of the car and the family at Amelia Island not long ago....https://www.davemacdonald.net/galler...oredamelia.htm

The first time Sherry saw the restored car after Dave was killed was at the NCRS national meet in Orange County, CA, in 1991. I had just been introduced to her by Joe Freitas. As we were talking, the 63 arrived on an open carrier and when she spotted it, she put her hand to her face and turned away with a sudden gasp and tear.

Related to that, Mike, I spent a couple of hours at that event talking to Dave's brother, Doug. It didn't take long for it to become obvious that at some level, for him, it was still 1964... if you get my drift.
