Yesterday I removed the starter motor for repair from my early '63 and was happy to find that it is indeed the original unit (1107242) dated 2M15 (December 15, 1962). However, the Solenoid number clearly reads 1119910, instead of the 1119919 indicated by our 1963-64 (6th ed) Judging Manual on page 138. Although it is possible that the solenoid might have been replaced sometime in the past half century, it seems unlikely that all the id digits would match except for the very last one--a 0 instead of a 9. Or is it just as possible that BOTH 1119910 and 1119919 are correct for early '63s, say those manufactured in late 1962?

Re: 63 Solenoid id number
FYI February 1961 GM parts book which list Part#1119910 as the solenoid for a bunch of cars including 57-62 Corvettes, looking across the linein the catolog you will see a notation" STAMPED" 1119919. So it would appear that if you went into a Chevy Dealer back then and asked for a solenoid for your 61-62 Corvette they would sell you a 1119910 (on the sales receipt) BUT when you opened the box the number stamped on the solenoid would be1119919. Needless to say VERY CONFUSING. By October, 1962 part #1119919 is clearly noted as being superseded by part# 1119910 in GM parts listing.- Top
