Best place to sell my corvettes

Happy New Year to everyone! Quick question: I have 2 C2 corvettes. Full discloser, both are restored, original trailer queens. 1 is a 1963 convertible Fuelie, tuxedo black on black. The other is a 1967 427/435hp convertible. The 67 is fully judged and won every conceivable award a C2 can win. They both run and drive excellent. My question is, where is the best place to sell these? Online, Dealer, Auction?? And within each venue which is the best? I appreciate any feedback.

I would start with an NCRS Driveline Magazine advertisement, an NCRS on-line classifieds ad, an ad on the NCRS Facebook page, or on the Bring A Trailer website.

I have had success with the online NCRS online classified ads page, and with Corvette Mike, and Bring A Trailer. There are many ways to do it, but having a Corvette with high level, preferably recent, NCRS judging credentials is a big plus, IMO.

Depends on what you mean by "best place".

Fastest? Easiest? Best price? Do you have an emotional connection with the cars and want to find an owner who will value and preserve them (vs. a dealer or flipper)?

You probably already have several PMs from interested members because of this thread.

Free Web ads, NCRS Driveline, Corvette Forum, etc. are a good place to start, but premium vintage Corvettes get big bucks on BaT. Here's an example of a low miles, unrestored Duntov Award winning '67 L-71 coupe.

Bid for the chance to own a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe L71 427/435 4-Speed at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #66,698.

Do the premium service that brings a professional photographer to your house to take photos and video. Find a good road where you can demonstrate driving the cars in a sporting manner as with this car.

The driving video probably added thousands if not tens of thousands because most don't show the car being driven on a "hillclimb" with multiple fixed cameras that show all the shifting, brake and clutch work, but i suppose I'm biased because I was the "shoe".

Unless you want to pick the buyer & deal with tire kickers I like BAT. Seller has to do very little. For les that 500.00 with NO back end fees. They take professional pictures. Do the write up from your description ETC. Cars bring at least what they are worth + you can set a reserve. You & buyer work out payment & pickup.Have sold all ways & to me this is the best way to get the most in your pocket with the least hassle.

Take the 435hp to B-J and pay the money for it to go across on Saturday evening. All you need is two slighly drunk well heeled bidders trying to outdo each other...

I'd do an add on this site to at least allow NCRS members the opportunity to work something out before the general public gets a shot.

I had great luck on Bring A Trailer with my 1958 Scarab, it did ring the bell. Paying their photographer made the price jump, also.
Any time I hear '67 435 with all the awards, my ears perk up.

I don't know if ST-12 covers much on the AFB, but the '63 Corvette Shop Manual has a comprehensive discussion and service procedure for the 3461S/3460S versions and those include the number of dimension checks than can require bending various link to achieve specified dimensions.

But after over half a century of trial and error "bubba fixes", a lot of old carburetors are pretty cobbled up.

It can work out that way, but you also pay B-J their commission (10% I believe), you'll pay a real premium for a Saturday slot, you have to ship the car to Scottsdale or tow it yourself, spend several days for overpriced hotel/meals, and there's always the chance that it sells under value since their auction is No Reserve - I know one person who bought their own car (20%). I'll be there (as a spectator) since it is a "happening" but I don't think I would sell a car at that venue.

I agree with what Kent stated above. You hear about the good stories, but there are many bad stories in the auction world.

There was a guy in our club years ago who had a real black 67 427 coupe NOM he restored himself. He drove it to B-J paid the Saturday premium and two guys got in a bidding war and he got $160k for it- it did have a chapter top flight. It's a risky proposition, but more and more B-J Scottsdale is a place where rich guys go to flaunt their wealth.
