1956/7 Exhaust bezel insulators (Support Assembliies)
When I bought my car in 1973 it had headers, so no original exhaust but I did get original chrome bezels with Support Assemblies shown on 8-2 and 11-4 of the AIM. The question is, do the spring tabs go rearward or forward? 8-2 doesn't show them and 11-4 indicates them pointing rearward. It's a funky design with upsets on the steel reinforcement and washers slipped inside. To me the design only makes sense if they point forward as I show in my pix. I think it'll go together either way but I'm curious. Anybody know?

The spring tabs point forward as you have them. AIM 8-2, view B is looking back. It shows them pointing forward. The support assy would not install well in the opposite direction.
