1977 L48. I'm removing an aftermarket holley carb and installing a numbers correct quadrajet. Having problems finding a picture or reference of how the forward and aft heat tubes are connected to the carb. I have the tubes from Corvette Central and they hook up to the intake manifold rather simply. It appears a small stretch of vacuum tube might connect the tubes to the carb. Should I be worried about the ambient temp when selecting the tube?? A picture sure would give me a warm fuzzy bout this.

Re: Quadrajet Choke heat tubes
The 75-77 3rd edition of the TIMJG has several pictures in both mechanical and chassis...it also will help with emission hose hookups, of which there are several. See if this is what you're looking for (the orange hose)?

Re: Quadrajet Choke heat tubes
You'll probably find it in an emission hose replacement kit...you're best bet and you'll have a fresh set of hoses. Any of the major vendors should have the kit.Tom Russo

Re: Quadrajet Choke heat tubes
I remembered I have a recent Zip C3 catalog and on page 41 are listed the emission hose kits. You mention an L48; listed for 77 are two kits, one is for L48s/L82s with the smog pump; otherwise you'll want the L48 without smogTom Russo

Re: Quadrajet Choke heat tubes
Mr. Cammaroto - Thanks for the reply and the offer. It is not my intention to have the car judged but I did order a new set of vacuum tubes. I don't think I could ever get this vehicle there. I like installing original items back if I can but am also willing to update if it makes sense. On my C4 I updated the headlight motors to the C5 version. It's a much better product than the original ones plus I have more confidence in them for when the wife is out and about at night. Plus its only a daily driver. This C3 I updated the AC with the new VIR unit. I took off the cra**y edelbrock valve covers and put on chrome Chevy ones. I could have put on the corporate blue ones but decided not to. Everything else is very close to original. This is my preference. Thanks again for your reply.- Top
