    C2 Power Antenna

Who did Greg Thompson pass the torch to on the rebuilding of the 65 Power Antenna's?

    Gary,

To my knowledge, Greg did not pass the torch to anyone. From what I've read, he stopped restoring them due to parts becoming unavailable.

      Re: C2 Power Antenna

I heard from a reliable source who spoke to Greg's wife that Greg is having health issues. I hope he gets better. His work is amazing and had access to many parts.

I just fixed one for a friend. My first ever. No wonder Greg charged a substantial fee to restore them. Yikes it was very time consuming.

I'm planning to do a major restoration thread here when I get time so you can see what's involved. I took about 100 photos of the process.

        Rich,

For the power antenna restoration you did, did you have to track down new or good used donor parts?

          Gary,

Fortunately, I needed no parts. It was jammed up and need much work to refurbish it. I took it apart 100%, including the masts, due to a previous fix I did. I'll post all the gory details soon.

Hi Jim, Lack of time has been preventing it. Probably a week or two after the Winter Regional.

Rich, is the process for a '78 much different than for a C2? As an aside wife is in Hennicker and temp same as here in Dallas area. Brrr!

Jim, What exactly is the problem?

                      Henniker? As in NH?

Not sure about C3's. Got some photos?

                          Rich,

My top section won't move up or down but the other sections do.

Jim, Is it stuck fully up? If so, that's what happened to this one I repaired. I have a process, but complicated as it causes the next section to have a problem, requiring all masts to be taken apart.

Did you try a light propane flame after soaking in penetrant?

A few photos would help too.

                              Rich,

Here are some pictures of my mast. The lower sections move up and down nicely but the top is stuck.thumbnail_IMG_0894.jpgthumbnail_IMG_0895.jpgthumbnail_IMG_0896.jpg I soaked it in penetrant for a week but it didn't help. Don't know about the flame idea?
