1960 clutch bellcrank to push rod bushing and return spring

    Hi Rookie here,

    I have two questions:

    1. the location where the clutch bellcrank to push rod bushing goes seems to have a sleeve there is this supposed to be there or is this left over from the previous bushing?

    2. The pictures I see of the clutch pedal return spring has the ends of the spring facing opposite directions my face the same direction is this an issue?

    Thanks
    Dan

Daniel, I just went and looked at my 61 clutch linkage. My spring, which l believe is original the hooks both face the same way. I will attempt to attach a picture of the bushing and linkage I think you are asking about. I remember reading here or on another forum of guys who bought afremarket replacements and they failed shortly after being put into use. Many guys have had good luck with Delrin replacements they had made. Delrin is a hard plastic type material. Hope this helps a littleIMG_0422.jpg The bushing is identified as p/n 3716811 per the P/A 30b dated Oct. 1972 group .O851 for 55-62 Corvette , bushing, clutch pedal intermediate lever shaft ball. Describes as 3/8” ID and 7/8” OD. Upon really close inspection I found the following cast as part of the rubber on the surface of the rubber on the not flanged end; Harris , 907 , 62152 , 58 or S8. (Hard for my old eyes This is a response to a post by Dan Dillingham some time ago. I don’t know how to attach the old post.

      Hi Leo,

Thank you very much I bought this car in pieces, no engine or transmission. I don't know much about cars and this is my retirement project. I must admit I am having fun hunting for parts and researching how this car goes together. I am trying to keep everything period correct but will not have it judge just a nice driver. I really appreciate everyone's help. I did put the bushing in yesterday I had installed the bellcrank and pulled it back out to install it. I realized when I pulled it out that no way was the bushing going to fit in with what I thought was a sleeve just remants of the old bushing as you can see in my picture there was nothing left. Now to attempt to attach the spring.

My post was about the quality of the repro bushings. They wear out and fail in just a few hundred miles. The responses I got back indicated that the repros were still no good. I ended up getting an original one from another member.

I don't know how to attach the post here either, but it was started on July 4, 2022 if you want to read it.

Their is a plastic sleeve over the rubber.
