68 small block fuel pump inlet nipple. The one I removed faced forward and the replacement one faces toward block. Which one is correct.

Re: 68 fuel pump
Attached are photos of an NOS AC 40658, the original pump used for your application [not for sale]. So, this is how it should look:

Re: 68 fuel pump
ok the pump i have on there now matches those fittings. So did the 68 use the "S" hose to connect to main fuel line. I am having issues connecting hose to main fitting from fuel line without kink in hose with strayght hose.. My main fuel line may be to long causing alignment issue. Thanks Joe for pics.- Top

Re: 68 fuel pump
Joe
You would know better than I when that molded "S" fuel inlet hose became available, but my 1970 was delivered with a kinked un-shaped fuel inlet hose.
If one were able to find such a molded hose today my guess is it would be made of a material that is not compatible with alcohol laced fuel. Just some things to consider when dealing with fuel lines now days.Terry- Top

Re: 68 fuel pump
Some of the catalog companies do offer S-shaped fuel hoses.
Given that it's new material (I purchased one recently) I suspect they may be OK with modern fuels.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS
