    Dealer Code Data

Can anyone tell me what kind of info do you get if you buy the Dealer Coda Data for a C2 car?

    Jim,
Are you referring to the Dealer Code Database page under Services in tool bar above? https://www.ncrs.org/services/dealer-code-data.php
If so, there is nothing to buy there. if you have a Dealer name, you can enter it, and you might learn the Dealer Number and Zone.
If you have a Dealer Number and Zone, you can enter that, and it might give you the name and address of the Dealership.

        He does?
If so, here is what you get, from a 67 recently sold on BaT.

            What were you expecting ?

What year C2 do you have ?

If you have a '67 and have your tank sticker, the SDR can validate the Dealer Code and Zone on the Tank Sticker.
Important ? Yeah...coupling a tank sticker to that data is good.

if you don't have a '67 (and even if you do), NBD - same advantage exists as above for all C2s as described below...

The validated shipping date can be used as a check on the Body Build Date.
What do I mean by that ?
If your car as validated by the SDR was shipped before the BBD on your Trim Plate, you can start wondering if your Trim Plate has been tampered with (IOW - you can't have a car shipped before it's body was built [either at St. Louis OR Ionia MI] as stamped on the trim plate).

If you ever go to sell your C2 to an "NCRS Type", you'll like having that sheet of paper with the data that only NCRS can give you.
Sad to say "The Bad Guys" are out there...50 bucks is a deal IMHO to clear the air in advance of any potential mischief.
            thx,
            Mark

Jim- Do you have the same "That's all you get for $50" reaction going to the gas station, McDonald's, etc?

Besides what Mark has stated earlier, consider the following:
Many people (including myself) have located the original owner from ascertaining the dealership and location.
Like hunting for original parts, it can be lotza work... but extremely rewarding, when successful.
Is the Shipping Data Report worth $50... thatz a personal decision, but I might be biased.

Without a Window Sticker, Bill of Sale, Corvette Order #7, POP, or any other documents...
I was excited to learn 'Bill' ordered my 66 with the options discussed over the phone, and photos he shared.
Documenting my 427 was originally ordered with knock-offs, gold stripes, and sidepipes is priceless to me.
This image is from November 1965... when Bill took delivery:

              1966_Delivery.jpg

Subsequently, Bill gave me the name of the 2nd owner... who after speaking with, sent me the original owner's manual.
And that 2nd owner (Larry) shared many stories with me... as well as telling me the name of the 3rd owner.

If you already have a well documented 66, the Shipping Data Report (SDR) just adds another layer of authenticity.
Since the SDR is a very popular option, perhaps you too might reconsider itz ultimate value.

                Re: Dealer Coda Data

Jim, I'll add another story to "That's all you get for $50". I spent 2 years trying to document a 63 Z06 I owned. I was stuck at a lost lead, "Gas station owner in a town close by". The station had been sold several times and no one could give me an owners name. Then the NCRS Shipping Data Report was started. I bought it and found out the car was sold new at a local dealer that was still in business. Through my Corvette club buddies I was able to talk to a mechanic who worked at the dealer back in 63 and did service work on the car. He gave me the original owners name. I located the original owner and was able to fully document the car and it's history.

That $50 was the JACKPOT to me!!

I agree with all the above comments, the best $50 you will ever spend on a C2.

Some might love that snow tire look. Not me!

Snow tires got me back and forth to WPI for 3 winters. If I had a hard top it would have been even better. BTW, those 63-7 cars were great in the snow.

Sorry, Gary... the gold strip snow tires (to match the fronts) was all Bill could get for $50.

Gary- I have several photos that Bill sent... the one I posted was actually used on the demo CD for the hit song, 'Riding with Private Malone'.
