    Re: Winter storage PROS/CONS

Pull in the garage, wipe it off, disconnect the battery, if its warm I put the top up…not this year. Toss a cover over it and that’s it until April.
Thats been my storage system for years. Sometimes I take the gas out to use in the generator when power goes out.

Todays road brine is so destructive that I now hose my truck undersides with Fluid Film or some equivalent every fall. No plans to do that to the ‘69.

At French Lick we had a lively discussion on just this topic in a session Tom McGowan and I presented entitled "Preservation and Maintenance." Various people covered exactly the points made in this thread. We reached no conclusion, but I do think some points and their rational enlightened some of the people there, just as I am sure it has here. That is the point of learning, isn't it?

Tom, I couldn't resist asking where in the USA you're based as the spelling of our last name is the same and quite rare. Best. Wayne Mackie

How to Store a Vintage Automobile.pdf
Folks, I wrote a PDF white paper last year on how to properly store vintage cars. I didn't get much feedback from other members, so I figured the paper was acceptable.

There is varied opinions on how to store a car, so use this document as a guide and do what you are comfortable with.

              I re-attached the document here.

By any chance, was your grandfather's last name "Newton"?

It was a poor attempt at humor.

Sir Isaac Newton's first law of motion states that a body in motion will stay in motion [unless acted on by a force].

                      Sound familiar?

                          Re: Winter storage PROS/CONS

Depends on where and what type of storage you have. eg.> Heated/Non Heated; Concrete Floor that is sealed somehow. eg. By concrete sealer or covered with outdoor carpet? Any any rate I have stored my cars for over
25 years the same way. (Non-Heated building/Concrete covered with outdoor carpet) In Illinois with yearly temps
with various outdoor temps from 105 to -10 Degrees.

Stored with straight Av-Gas (Will not gum up for years)/Take battery out/ Put in Omni Bag with "Dry-Z-Air" white
pellets that draw ALL MOISTURE OUT. I have done this for years with no problems. I have stored cars for over
3 years with no problems. Basically your car comes out of the bag exactly the same shape as it was put in.
                          Of Course this is JMHO>Thanks-Larry

Was interested in opinions on the mechanical part by not starting the car .more than the storage part .
