    Big Block Oil Pan

    I am looking for a correct big block oil pan for a 66. Any suggestions on a supplier that would be a source for item?

      The last available Corvette big block oil pan was GM #14091356 but it's been discontinued now for awhile. This pan was virtually identical to the original oil pan used for 1966. The differences are these:

      1) no corner reinforcements (but these are available in reproduction and do not need to be spot-welded on);

      2) as Gary mentions, no front hole for the pan-to-timing cover bolt used for 1965-66 applications (easily added);

      3) slight re-positioning of the internal baffle to accommodate later 4" stroke 454's. This requires the use of a GM #3967854 external baffle which is supplied with the 14091356 pan. Virtually impossible to externally discern.

      This pan was actually available from GM for a lot longer than I thought it would be. After all, the last big block Corvette was made 50 years ago. But, GM continued to offer it as long as the tooling to produce it lasted. Finally, I expect, the tooling finally wore out and that-was-that.

      As Gary mentioned, used pans often have problems and may not be in any better shape than the pan that one is trying to replace.

        Walter,

        There are several NOS examples of the 14091356 pan on eBay.
