Be very leery of any cars posted for sale on a website called autonetads.com & Trovit. I looked into a 64 Corvette convertible on autonnetads.com only to find it was a scam. There are lots of nice cars on this website at ridiculously low prices including several Corvettes. They're using the names David Ingram (owner) and Steven Downey (broker). I know of three advertised on this site supposedly owned by Ingram and they've proven to be non-existent. One person I was contacted by, after posting a warning on another site, sent them $18k and never heard back. On the surface it looks good but it's not! At least one of these cars (a classic Lincoln) also appeared on the site called Trovit so be very careful! Seller (Ingram) says he works for ConocoPhillips on an oil platform way up north and turned his car over to a "broker" to sell (Downey) who would be shipping it through a company called MJB Transport LLC. Downey & Ingram are probably the same person and it's all a lie, though someone named David Ingram apparently does work for this company. Looks like they may have stolen his identity, not sure. FBI has been notified.

Re: Scam warning!
I agree and that's when things came to a screeching halt when I was looking into the Corvette I mentioned. Couldn't even talk to the "owner" because no cell phone were allowed at his place of work and the "broker" had a very heavy accent with a very American name. It all looked very fishy but when I did an initial look into the business (MJB Transport) I found they do exist, have a business license and branch offices spread out over the country. The supposed owner, David Graham claimed he works for ConocoPhilips and according to the guy that did get scammed, there really is a guy working there with that name so these A--holes have done their homework and anticipated someone might look into them. It's when you look a bit deeper or start insisting on seeing the car and a copy of the title-that's when the scammers break off communication and move on to someone else more trusting. The car ads look great too, and the prices quoted make you take a second look. The proverbial dangling of the carrot. I believe a better quote to live by is "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is".- Top

Re: Scam warning!
It's amazing the number of crooks out there today. It used to be those in the rebuilding end of things taking advantage and shipping out questionable work. Now it's whole car scams, and the bad vendor work is still happening.- Top

Re: Scam warning!
The '64 convertible I looked at was all original, 365 HP, both tops, three owner, fully documented, no known flaws anywhere on the car (white-black interior). Asking price 34,900 but got him down to 31k, That included shipping and a 7 day inspection. If not happy with the car, I could ship it back at the owner's expense. Now THAT'S a deal!!- Top
