70 Mat Deadener 3919716

According to the AIM on UPC 1 ASM page F29 there is a mat deadener under the carpet on the vertical wall behind the seats. My 70 had no mat deadener when I took out the carpet and Al Knoch did not place any mat deadener on this piece of carpet. I have an old set of carpet I took out of a 69 many years ago. And it had the mat deadener shown in the picture below. It does not fit very well, but this is what I took out.

What is correct for the mat deadener 3919716?

Allen,

I don't know what's "correct" but I recommend installing insulation if you plan to drive the car. Nobody will see what you do so no judging consequences.

Although I installed both, thermal insulation made a bigger difference with comfort than sound insulation for my '70. I used "Dynaliner" which worked well. I used the 1/2" product but if doing it again would use 1/8".
