The VIN tag is "bowed up" in the middle. Is this normal?

To one extent or another, yes. However, this one looks to be bowed more than typical.

I suspect the car's been monkeyed. The engine option is indicated on the VIN tag as an LT-1 but the tag has silver rivets. The door label appears original but conveniently has the engine option character, and only the engine option character, scratched out.

Additionally, it's got every glove box document under the sun except for the POP:

I am no expert on what LT-1s came with for other specific items to look for.

The HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS, critical "missing character" of the VIN, by itself, tells me everything I need to know.

However, I'm not so sure that the label, itself, is original and legitimate. The information on it appears to me to have been typed with an ordinary typewriter, not even an IBM Selectric.

Here's a pic of the door label on my '72 w/original paint. Whatever type machine was used it's got an interesting -8- character in my VIN!
