1963 Lighter Not Popping Out - How to Adjust?

Is there an average time that the Casco lighter is supposed to pop out when it reaches X temp? It is not popping out currently. I also found that I need to remove the bi-metal piece in the housing to prevent a short (since the lighter circuit is not fused). When I push the element all the way in, it comes back a short distance - maybe need to remove housing and adjust the clips?
    Thanks in advance.

1963 Lighter Not Popping Out - How to Adjust?

I didn't title my previous post on this very accurately - really wanting to know how to adjust the lighter housing to allow the element to pop out when it reaches correct temp. Also, any info on removing the bi-metal piece in the housing to avoid shorting in the harness?

    Thanks in Advance.

If you don't smoke and the car won't be judged, the lighter makes a great kill switch. Just run a lead between the lighter and the negative side of the coil.

Thanks Mark but I do plan to have it judged. Trying to find the in-line fuse that has been mentioned in other discussions that does not require cutting into the wiring harness.

Yep - saw the threads about the Casco's but can't find them on eBay or anywhere else at the moment. Thanks though.

Gents, I have some old 66 & 67 main harnesses. I'll take a look and see if I can come up with a inline fuse adaptor using the special round female connectors.

This would be removable for judging.

Rich, that would be outstanding if you could find 'em.

                          Many Thanks!

Ok so curiosity got me. I found a '67 harness. I forget, is this the one for '66 also?

Took a photo of the connection earlier and although I can't see the backside, it looks to be the same as yours. I think the only difference is that the '67's had the fuse protection.
