Part Numbers found on inside of hood

Long story, but I have a 1971 Nose clip on my 1970 Coupe. (1st owner had collision repair and obtained a clip from another Corvette).

I was checking my fluids today and with the hood open and the light just right, I observed some faint imprint of part numbers on the inside upper surface of the hood (slightly left of center). Could almost make out the imprint of "12357" in small type and a larger and fainter "48?262" next to that. This is an LT-1 hood. I do not know if it is original or a replacement, but I have owned it since 1977 and the previous (2nd) owner for 5 yrs prior to me says he did not replace the hood.

This hood has only one location for the hood support attachment.

Do any of these P/Ns found make sense as an original factory hood?

    Thanks!

All I can tell you is that the numbers you mentioned (regardless of what the "?" was) would not have been GM part numbers of the period. So, they are, apparently, some sort of manufacturer's ID numbers. They very well could have been on original hoods, though. Someone with a known original hood might be able to comment on whether these numbers are found on their hood.

Thanks Joe! The second pic of Dave Schutzbank's post #4 1969 - 1972 LT1 and Big Block Hood (ncrs.org) of December 27, 2015 depicts just about the exact same numbering as I have on my hood, but alas, his was a similar question of originality.

Makes sense they would be the manufacturer's numbers, original or replacement. (I suspect mine is an original 1971 from a War Bonnet Yellow Corvette)

The underside of a 1970 and 1971 LT1 hood will look essentially the same even though they had two different part numbers assigned to them according to the AIM. I do not know if the numbers you speak of are the same, however.

We see them occasionally when the ambient light is just at the right angle. Those numbers are, as Joe suggests, the hood manufacturing numbers. They may have something to do with the molds used to form the hood, but that is just a SWAG.

My 71 LT1 has a date scribbled on the back of it... 6/17/71 with a haphazzardly circled D3 below it. pass side about mid way up the hood.
My rear exhaust valence also has a date scribbled on it.

                Bill & Joe,

I have owned several Corvettes with original hoods, and I am of the opinion that some hoods had them and some did not. I can't explain the reason why, but maybe some one on this DB can.
