    Black PF-25

Anybody know the application for this filter? I'm wondering if it was used just prior to the introduction of the PF-970 in the C4...

That filter was on my Brand New 94 1LE Camaro.(Now sold) Engine was LT1. My guess it was also
used on other Chevrolet Models. Picture of mine below. Larry

I'm wondering if they would've been used on 87/88 KoH and 89 ZR-1.

If you search this board IIRC>Joe Lucia pointed out that this full size filter WOULD NOT FIT CERTAIN CORVETTES

First encountered black oil filter on the '88-89 Corvette Challenge cars. Was curious why black and was told it indicated factory oil had not been changed yet.

            Larry------

Yes, for Corvettes the last year of the PF-25 was 1991. For 1992-96 LT1 and LT4 the PF-51 was initially used and, later, the PF-52. These were smaller diameter filters used to provide sufficient clearance for the catalytic converters.

Camaros with the LT1 engine did not use the same type of catalytic converters as Corvette. So, those engines continued to use the PF-25.

The oil filter adapter is obviously different for the PF-25 and PF-51/52. The PF-25 adapter is very easy to obtain, even still from GM. The PF-51'52 adapter for Corvettes is very difficult to find and is long-since GM-discontinued.
