    C2 Instrument Cluster Installation

I am planning for the installation of my restored instrument cluster and new dash wiring harness in my 65 coupe. The steering column is removed.

Is there a clear advantage of one of these two approaches ?

    1. Install the dash harness in the car first then install the instrument cluster
    2. Install the dash harness to the instrument cluster on a bench then install into the car

I bought all NOS American-made bulbs and have tested them all.

I have John Hinckley's 3 articles and have read several postings on the TDB.
I am using pages 208-216 of the AIM as the main guide.
I am using 1/4-20 all thread to support the cluster during installation.

Are there some good threads that helps explain this process ?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Mark, the last time I installed my new harness to the cluster before installation, then just routed the longer wires to where ever they go, went smoothly and not laying on my back guessing where the wires went!!!!! (64)

I put the dash cluster and the wiring harness in together. It helps to have a helper to guide the harness over to the right side of the

The way that Dan and James are describing the install is how they did it at the factory.

The advice and photo is very helpful. Nice to hear this is how the factory did it too.

          Thanks everyone.

Done both ways, Jim & Dan method is best.
