1977 roof panel restoration

I am working T tops. The AIM calls out a "strip sealer" for installing the roof panel moulding. Can anyone advise me what product should be installed between my freshly painted roof panels and the rear and side mouldings? I planning to apply minimal sealer along the entire length of these mouldings. I don't want them to loosen. The AIM shows the Sealer applied only at the inboard edge of the rear moulding depicted below for reference.

I am planning on using Weldwood contact cement under all weather stripping. Any better suggestions?

Strip sealer comes in boxes of strips or rolls from 3M.
Looks like 3/16 diam cord which is black urethane mastic, about a foot long, usually like 30 or 50 in a box.
Used for sealing heater ducts/interior to firewall components/interior to floor seals etc.
